Virginia June Wimpfheimer was born June 30, 1922 in St Thomas, ND. She moved to the family farm near Cavalier before her first birthday and remained a resident of Cavalier the rest of her life. She completed high school with the class of 1942 and then worked at the Red Owl grocery. She was later employed by Dr. Waldren, before becoming a receptionist at the new Cavalier Clinic in the 1950s. There she scheduled and greeted patients for over three decades and eventually knew most Pembina County residents. She’s remembered for sharing cheer and concern with all who came to the clinic.
Virginia was devoted to her family and cared for her elderly parents and later several siblings. She loved animals and enjoyed socializing with her many farm cats. In earlier years she was an avid league bowler, and she maintained long friendships with neighbors and fellow members of her church.
Virginia was the youngest child of Carl and Katherine Wimpfheimer, who farmed in Pembina county beginning in the 1880s. She was predeceased by her siblings Sadie, Gladys, Edna, Irene, Frances, Ben, Harold, Charlie, Clarence, and Stanley. Virginia is survived by nieces: Janice, Sharon, Robin, and Colleen, and nephews: Duane, Bob, and Todd, as well as many great-nieces and nephews.
