Ethel M. “Torg” Torgerson, age 104 of Saint Thomas, ND, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.
Ethel was born May 31, 1915 in Saint Thomas, ND, the daughter of the late Martin and Elizabeth (McMartin) Torgerson. She graduated Valedictorian of the class of 1933 from Saint Thomas High School. She worked on the family farm, always caring for her family. She graduated from UND with her teaching degree and taught for 32 years in Newfolden, MN. She returned to Saint Thomas and worked as the bookkeeper for St. Thomas Grain, Inc. until retiring in 1992. Ethel was a member of the Saint Thomas United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens. She received the Wall of Fame award from Newfolden High School in September of 2017. She loved to do puzzles, bake pies, can, and she enjoyed all her friends, especially when Karen and Stephie came yearly to celebrate her birthday. She is survived by several nieces and great great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Earl and Everett Torgerson and Marvin McMartin. Funeral services will be Friday, July 19, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the Saint Thomas United Methodist Church of Saint Thomas. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Saint Thomas City Cemetery.

![]() Randolf Gregory Dusek, age 58, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at the Sanford hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Randy was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota on April 2, 1961, to Greg and Pat Dusek. He moved to Grafton with his parents before he was a year old. He received his education through high school in Grafton. He attended and graduated from University of North Dakota. That explains his love for Sioux hockey. After college graduation he left for California working in Los Angeles, then Houston, Texas, and finally Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This is where he has made his home for the last 27 years. He has been a senior accountant at First Premier Bank/Premier Bankcard for 24 years. Randy was involved in so many groups and meant so much to so many people. Randy’s love for Jesus was evident in everything that he did and to every person that he interacted with. He will be remembered for his wonderful hugs, his great smile, his tip of the head and shrug of his shoulders as he gave you that sweet smile that melted your heart. He was always the first person to show up and served faithfully in all that he did. His emails never ended without one of the following “I can help… Do you need help?... I’ll be there and help”. He truly was a servant of his Lord and Savior Jesus by serving others. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his parents, Greg and Pat Dusek of Grafton North Dakota, two Brothers Jeff (Brenda) Dusek of Moorhead Minnesota and Steve (Suellen) Dusek of West Fargo, North Dakota; five nieces and nephews -Nick (Brie), Katie, (his beloved goddaughter), Caleb, Abby, and Zach (another beloved godchild) and a grand niece, Agnes and a grandnephew, George. Besides his immediate family he is also survived by members of his First Premier family, his Recover family, his Koinonia Retreat family, his church, bible study group, and the Catholic Men’s Business Fraternity. Nelson, age 87 of Edmore, ND and formerly Park River, ND passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Roger Millard Nelson was born February 1, 1932 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Millard and Lyla Nelson. He was raised and attended school in Adams, ND. He graduated from Adams High School in 1949. After graduating, Roger worked on the family farm. He enlisted in the Army and served from 1953 to 1955 at Fort Hood, TX. He returned home and married Mavis Harpestad on December 20, 1957 in Max, ND. Roger and Mavis lived in Adams, until moving to Park River in 1962. Roger farmed throughout his life. He also worked for Livestock Options Market, as the Park River Elementary school custodian, and served 27 years with the North Dakota Highway Department, retiring in 1995. Roger was a member of Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church of rural Adams and Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Park River. He was a lifelong member of the Gustavus Adolphus Cemetery Association. Roger and Mavis loved to bowl and spent many long North Dakota winters bowling in leagues. Roger is survived by his daughter: Melaine (Lyle) Korynta, Glyndon, MN; granddaughters: Amanda Korynta (Cody Asperheim), Fargo, ND, Katlin (Brady) Timme, Panama City, FL, and Lauren Korynta (Michael Enfield), Watertown, SD; sister: Debra Nelson, Fargo, ND. Toni Darlene Sapa was born February 1, 1990 at Grand Forks, ND to Douglas and Revel (Heggestuen) Sapa. She grew up in Cavalier and graduated from Cavalier High School in 2008. Toni couldn't talk but she could light up a room with the sparkle in her eyes. She had a contagious smile and thick beautiful hair that made everyone jealous. Her laugh was infectious and made it impossible not to laugh yourself. Toni was the most vibrant, fun, loving and sweetest person that everyone gravitated to. She loved spending time with her niece and nephews. She loved going for rides on the golf cart and being lazy in bed, watching her favorite reality shows with her dogs. She would never turn her head away from her dads homemade cooking. She loved to be outside and watch everything around her. Toni, you are deeply loved and will be missed every single day. She is survived by her parents, Doug and Revel Sapa, Cavalier, ND; sisters: Nicolle (Nathan) Kemnitz and Tiffani Byrd-Sapa, all of Cavalier; nephews and niece: Ryker, Ryler, and Ryver Kemnitz; grandparents: Judith Miller-Basher, Cavalier, Barb Heggestuen, Anoka, MN, and Robert “Bob” and Linda Schlittenhard, Cavalier. Wylie, 73, of Park River, ND, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 at her home in Park River. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 12, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Walhalla, ND. Cornella was born May 31, 1946, in Langdon, ND, to Cornelius and Nettie (Letkeman) Wieler. Cornella grew up in the Walhalla area and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1964. After school, she worked at the phone company in Grafton, ND. On July 13, 1968, Cornella was untied in marriage to Richard Wylie. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Pisek area. They then moved to Fordville where she worked at the grocery store and as a bartender. She later moved to Park River where she worked at the Good Samaritan Center. Cornella enjoyed crafts and pets, especially her dog, Mimi. Cornella is survived by her siblings: Randall (Carol) Wieler and Birdella (Quane) Sims, all of Walhalla, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Richard. Lynn Bjarnason was born on April 13, 1932 to Tryggvi & Gudny (Jonsdottir) Bjarnason on the family farm in rural Mountain, ND.
He attended the Sunny Side County School and the Mountain School. He graduated from Mountain High School in 1950. After Graduation, Lynn farmed with his father. He married Joyce (Bunny) Robinson on November 27, 1958. They had two children, Tim and Diane. He loved his family with all his heart and was a wonderful provider and role model. He worked briefly at the Par Site in the Fire Department; and for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad during the winters for many years. Farming was his passion, as he liked being his own boss. Lynn was a member of the Pembina Hills Lutheran Church; served on the Mountain Cemetery Board and Vikur Lutheran Church Board. He was also a member of the Tongue River Lodge #22. He enjoyed farming, traveling, reading, playing cards, visiting with family and friends, and spending time with family at their farm. Lynn is survived by his wife, Bunny; daughter, Diane, of Cavalier; Grandson Justin (Carol) Bjarnason, of Grand Forks; Great-Grandchildren, Luther & Olivia Bjarnason, of Grand Forks; Dominic & Kira Bjarnason, of Fargo; Sisters-in-law, Jane Willert of Boulder, Colorado. Margaret Robinson and Doris Robinson, both of Grand Forks; Brothers-in-law, Henry Scheving of El Cerrito, California, and Michael Williams of Hercules, California; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Kevin Sisk, 39, of St. Thomas, ND, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 10:00 at the St. Thomas, ND School Gym. Kevin Sisk was born June 6, 1980 at Bottineau, ND to Robert and Linda (Aitchison) Sisk. He grew up at Westhope, ND and graduated from Westhope High School in 1998. Kevin then worked for the Honey Bee Co and then as a mechanic for Trans Systems in East Grand Forks, MN. He then worked as parts manager at North Valley Equipment until the time of his death. Things Kevin enjoyed were racing, camping, and tractor rides on his tractor he called “Henry.” Kevin was a member of the St. Thomas Volunteer Fire Department and also served as president of the St. Thomas Park Board and a trustee at the St. Thomas Lutheran Church. On January 6, 2001, Kevin married Amanda DeFoe at Grand Fork, ND. He is survived by his wife, Amanda; children: Brian Sisk and Kathryn Sisk, all of St. Thomas, ND; siblings: Tim (Tami) Sisk, Shannon (Dan) Wulick, Patti (Brad) Luyten, Ken (Renee) Sisk, Kurt (Kaitlin) Sisk; and sister-in-law, Kelle Sisk. After their marriage they lived in East Grand Forks, MN and together they had five children. They later moved to Williams, MN where they built their lake home. Gerald passed away on May 25, 2003. She lived in Williams until 2010. On August 7, 2010 she married Dickie LeTexier on Pine Island at Lake of the Woods. After their marriage they lived at their home in Backoo, ND. Patty’s happiest moments were spent gathered with family and friends sharing laughs and stories. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, being on lake, and caring for their many animals. She is survived by her husband, Dickie LeTexier; children: Rick (Jill) Amundson, Baudette, MN, Pamela LeTexier, East Grand Forks, MN, Cindy (Dave) Oldakowski, Ham Lake, MN, Jason (Stacy) Amundson, East Grand Forks, MN, P.J. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Numedahl Lutheran Church, rural Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held for one hour before the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND.
Lawrence was born December 10, 1935, in Numedahl, ND, to Hartvig and Nora (Halvorson) Fulsaas. He grew up and attended school in the Numedahl area. Lawrence lived on the family farm his entire life where he farmed and raised cattle. Some of the things he enjoyed were hunting, fishing, and walking in the hills. Lawrence cared for his mother for several years and was always willing to help his neighbors when needed. Lawrence is survived by his siblings: Harvey Fulsaas and Carol (Willard) Gendron all of Walhalla, ND; nephew; Wade (Luz) Gendron, Walhalla, ND; niece; Sheila (Terry) Brown, Walhalla, ND; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister-in-law, Cecelia Fulsaas. |
