June I. Gilleshammer, age 93 of Grafton, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton, ND.
June Iris Romine was born in Rugby, ND on May 28, 1926 to Gene and Hilma (Ellertson) Romine where she graduated from high school. She moved to Grafton and worked as a telephone operator until her marriage to Allen Gilleshammer January 1949. They resided on a farm 9 miles North and 2 ½ miles West of Grafton on the Walsh/Pembina County line. They moved to Grafton in 1965.
June was always full of fun and enjoyed family events, doing skits and spending time with her friends in “Birthday Club” and other organizations. She was a member of the Grafton Lutheran Church. She was a very hard working family farm wife. She was known for her friendly demeanor, infectious smile and great sense of humor that she shared with all she met.
She is survived by her children, Keith (Jill) Gilleshammer, Fargo, ND, Julie Gillis, Minneapolis, MN, Jay Gilleshammer, Fridley, MN, 6 grandchildren, Vanessa (Tony) Noce, Christin (Kissy) Munchoff, Tucson, AZ, Jace (Jennifer) Gilleshammer, Queen Creek, AZ, Michael (Susan) Eoloff, Milwaukee, WI, Sara Eoloff, Minneapolis, MN and Ann Eoloff, Minneapolis, MN. She is survived by her siblings Rod Romine, Minot, ND, Lyla (Ralph) Crowe, Seattle, WA, Jerome (Sandra) Romine, Denver, CO, and Clark (Pam) Romine, Richland, WA. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Hilma Romine, a brother Lyle killed in France in World War II, brother Homer Romine, husband Allie, and daughter Kathy. She was the last surviving member/ spouse of the Peter and May Gilleshammer family.
Funeral services with be held at the Grafton Lutheran Church on Monday October 7, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the church. Lunch will be served in the church basement immediately following the service. Inurnment will be at Grafton Lutheran Cemetery.
