A group of religious organizations is preparing for potential flooding in
The Reverend Lee Gale of Grafton is pastor of Federated Church.
Gale is the vice-chair of North Dakota Volunteer Organizations Active
in Disaster. Gale says his group is always preparing. The groups in VOAD
gets a forecast from the National Weather Service and that ignites the planning.
Groups are designated to bring items, to be early response, cleanup, and who'll
be the last one out the door.
Gale says his organization tries to get volunteers to help out. Gale
says volunteers do as much sandbagging as possible, mucking out, and
rebuilding. Each entity has a specialty they take care of.
Gale says coordination is key with disaster response.
The big concern right now is the potential for overland flooding.
