The U.S. Department of Agriculture says North Dakota's honey production
last year was five-percent more than in two-thousand-eleven.
Honey producers with five or more colonies produced 34-point-two-million
pounds in 2012. There were 495-thousand honey-producing colonies in North
Dakota last year. That was an eight-percent increase over two-thousand-eleven.
The total value of honey produced in 2012 was 64-point-six-million-dollars,
up 18-percent from two-thousand-eleven.
For the ninth straight year, North Dakota led the US in honey production.
