The Grafton City Council has declared an emergency to help prepare for
potential spring flooding.
The council held a special meeting Monday evening.
The National Weather Service says there's a 50-percent chance the Park
River at Grafton will reach major flood stage of 14-point-five-feet. There's a 75-percent
chance it'll reach 14-point-one-feet.
The Grafton City Council Monday evening also approved a cooperation
agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Corps will do the emergency
dike work in the City of Grafton if and when it's necessary.
Grafton City Administrator Nick Ziegelmann also said the Fourth Street
entrance into Lestikow Park will be closed sometime next week in anticipation of
