Gov. Jack Dalrymple says BNSF Railway Co. is opening an office in downtown Bismarck.
The governor says the office will house economic development, sales and marketing staff.
BNSF is based in Fort Worth, Texas, but is part of Warren Buffett's Omaha-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
Officials say BNSF hauls about 75 percent of the crude oil that leaves North Dakota by rail.
Dalrymple says BNSF employs more than 1,500 people in North Dakota and has hired more than 400 workers in the past two years.
